Refinery

Rice Bran Oil (RBO) is one of the most difficult oils to refine. It contains a lot of by-products like free fatty acids, crude & refined waxes and p-content (phospholipids/phosphatides). In order to separate these from the oil, we have established a state-of-the-art refinery employing modern equipment. These incorporate the latest advancements in the field of refining of edible oils. Running at full capacity, our refinery is capable of processing over 150 tonnes of crude oil per day.

De-gumming: Our refinery is one of the very few employing specialised Physical Refining. This ensures maximum retention of nutrients and anti-oxidants (like γ-Oryzanol) which are naturally present in RBO. Centrifugal separators from Alfa Laval as well as GEA Westphalia (imported directly from Germany) are employed for de-gumming (removal of p-content). Four such separators have been installed in order to ensure smooth functioning of the plant.

Bleaching: The refinery has two bleachers and numerous Pressure Leaf Filters (PLF’s), which help in removing colour, odour and other impurities from crude oil. Presence of multiple bleachers helps in more effective handling of different grades and varieties of crude oils.

De-waxing: We use numerous plate-and-frame type filter presses for de-waxing crude oil. Separate crystallisers and filter presses are employed for separating crude and refined waxes.

Deodorisation-cum-Deacidification: Two large vessels have been installed for this. Special care is taken at this stage to ensure that oil passing from this stage contains no Trans Fats. Multiple de-odorisers further help in double refining of RBO, thus improving the quality of final output substantially.

An experienced, hard-working team of staff and workers works 24 hours a day to operate and maintain this infrastructure optimally. We also have a storage capacity of over 6,000 tonnes of oil, capable of storing many different types of crude and final oils at the same time.
